JOB SUMMARY
Join our team and get involved in craft beer! We opened Crazy Gnome Brewery in August 2020 and are looking to expand our team as we embrace another exciting summer!
This position is for a Bartending job in our Taproom. You will serve guests draft beers and beverages and will also assist in food, merch, and to-go can sales. All duties are to be performed in accordance with Crazy Gnome’s policies, practices, and procedures, and dress code.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of craft beer and/or beer brewing, or an ability to independently learn the product.
- The ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced and high volume environment.
- To provide excellent service to guests and ensure their complete satisfaction. This includes greeting and interacting with guests in a friendly and enthusiastic manner, building trust and delighting guests, anticipating and meeting guest needs and preferences, remaining calm and professional when dealing with guests that are difficult or upset, taking ownership of guest issues or problems and taking action to quickly resolve them, and caring about and valuing guests.
- The ability to develop and maintain professional, trusting, and positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, staff, coworkers, guests, and vendors. This includes being cooperative, approachable, and taking time to listen to and address others’ questions or concerns; treating others with kindness, respect, and dignity; and expressing empathy and compassion when dealing with the needs and problems of others.
- The ability to participate as a committed member of a team. - Maintain complete knowledge of all menu and beer items selections available.
- Working knowledge of designated glassware
- Maintain an orderly and clean bar at all times, including, but not limited to, bar surface, draught area, coolers, wells, sinks, server area, and mats
- Maintain bar inventory consistent with cash totals and stock items, including all beers glassware, and miscellaneous bar supplies throughout shift
- Perform all closing duties in a timely, thorough maner, including but not limited to taking trash to the dumpster, cleaning all tables, chairs, and glassware, sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, and otherwise cleaning and organizing the taproom and bar area.
- Set up bar at beginning of shift and close down bar at end of each shift in accordance with Company standards
- Ensure receipt of accurate payments, balance cash drawer during shift, and maintain security and accuracy of bank
- Ensure compliance with Company alcohol service and identification policies
- Maintain regular attendance at scheduled shift and staff meetings
- Greet, bus, and service customers during shift when needed
- Maintain professionalism and a friendly and approachable demeanor throughout shift
- Adhere to all responsible alcohol serving requirements as dictated by the state.
- Assist with training/mentoring of new employees as requested.
- Maintain all assigned wardrobe/costumes/uniforms and appearance in accordance with established uniform guidelines.
- Prepare any part of the venue for a special event. This may include carrying tables, decorations, materials and similar duties
- Inform manager on duty of any irregularities and unusual situations when they occur
- Perform other job related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 21 years or older
- Must have a bartender’s serving card (TABC card)
- Must be effective in both verbal and written communication in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a pleasant personality
- Previous experience in bartending preferred
- Willingness to work a varying schedule, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays
- High school diploma or equivalent.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of bar equipment as it relates to the serving of craft beer.
- Proficiency in changing kegs and resetting taps.
- Thorough knowledge of craft beer, Nashville breweries. Overall knowledge of the beer brewing process a plus, or despite that willingness to learn.
- Highly motivated individual with solid work ethic.
- Possess strong judgment skills and effective listening abilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires regular attendance; requires the ability to stand or walk for hours at a time; frequently required to hear, speak, walk, dancing, crawl, climb, stand, reach, bend, balance, kneel, stoop, lift and carry items up to 50 lbs; requires ability to tolerate significant changes in temperature, and frequent immersion of hands in water and cleaning or sanitizing solutions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have ability to work in a loud environment
