Hi there! We’re Fremont Veterinary Clinic and are so thankful for your interest in joining our family. We are a close-knit and diverse group of folks who strive to provide excellent care to our wonderful patients (mainly dogs and cats, occasional pocket pets). Inclusivity and diversity are some of the qualities that are extremely important to us. We aim to cultivate a culture of inclusion for all employees that welcomes and respects their strengths, uniqueness and lived experiences. We believe our diverse character and distinctions can enable us to be a united team that helps make better choices, welcomes folks from marginalized communities, and empowers the next generation of veterinary professionals.
We are a privately owned animal clinic in the heart of the Beaumont neighborhood in Portland, Oregon. We have been caring for the pets of Portland since 1974. We pride ourselves as one of the few remaining privately owned veterinary clinics among a growing sea of corporate-owned practices.
We seek motivated, thoughtful, skilled, and dedicated individuals who strive to help fellow teammates provide exceptional care to our patients as a certified veterinary technician (CVT). We recognize that every team member is an integral part of our family, regardless of the work involved. In this role, you will work alongside our veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and client service specialists to champion our vision of providing excellent care to our patients and honorable service to our clients. Not only do we want to help you with the ability to practice and advance your skillset, but we also want to provide a safe space where you can continue to grow and mature as a human being! We will do whatever we can to support you with opportunities to further your career in the field.
As a CVT, you will be involved in exercising your technical and communication skills, as well as expanding your veterinary knowledge and proficiencies! We see various cases ranging from routine and wellness care to urgent and emergency care, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and in-depth diagnostic work-ups. A current OR state CVT license in good standing is required for consideration for this role. Non-licensed folks with comparable CVT skills are still encouraged to apply as a DA.
As a DA, you will be involved in various tasks, such as assisting the doctors with examinations, filling prescriptions, patient handling, and acting as a liaison between the clients and the doctors. You will also be entrusted to check in clients/patients and contribute to the medical record by obtaining a patient history. Other important veterinary technical skills, such as performing laboratory tests and providing treatments, may be included based on experience.
This role can be part-time to a full-time position with some flexibility in hours. Full-time positions can be eligible for benefits such as subsidized health care, vision, and dental insurance, generously discounted veterinary care, yearly uniform allowance, vacation/sick/holiday coverage, employer-matched IRA (retirement), and a fully stocked snack bar. Membership to the Oregon Veterinary Technician and Assistant Association (OVTAA) will be provided. Wages vary and are considered on experience and performance. DA positions start at $ 17.00 and up; CVT positions start at $23.00 and up
If any of this resonates with you, or you are interested in getting to know us more, we would love to hear from you! To apply, please include a resume and a cover letter to tell us a few things about yourself (Feel free to be candid and be as detailed or simplified as you wish! –We want to get to know your genuine self!)
