Position Title Central Navigator
Wages $21.83 to $23.43 per hour
(Around $40,000 to $45,000 per year if working 40 hours/week)
Classification This position is full-time, hourly, and non-exempt.
Hours of Work This position’s hours are typically 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday with a 30-minute lunch (40 hours/week). Overtime (over 40 hours/week) is rare and must be approved by a supervisor. Candidates may discuss alternative work arrangements during the hiring process.
Work Environment Ability to appear physically in office and our community is required. Office dress is professional casual. Some events may require professional dress and may be outside or off- site.
Physical Demands This position involves being stationed at a desk and communicating with others, including the public. Although Fremont Family Coalition and its comprehensive fiscal sponsor, Fremont Area United Way, together have fewer than 15 employees, we will consider reasonable accommodation requests.
Travel This position involves some local travel for community outreach. Public transportation in is limited, so travel would likely be by car. Employees who drive a personal vehicle while working must have a driver’s license and liability insurance. Any mileage paid is at the standard rate.
Professional development is important to us. We encourage and support employees to attend conferences / events. These opportunities may require longer drive times and hotel stays.
Reports To Executive Director Fremont Family Coalition
Supervisory Responsibility This position may oversee contracts with service providers.

Summary The Central Navigator assists individuals and families by referring needed prevention services and resources to community partners, especially during times of stress and crisis. The Central Navigator’s mission is to strengthen Fremont Family Coalition’s Community Response Program, which increases child, youth, and family well-being and decreases risk factors that could lead to entry into higher-end systems of care. The Central Navigator is a trusted member of the community with strong leadership, partnership, and communication skills.

Essential Functions
- Communicate with providers, individuals, youth, and families on behalf of the Community Response program in-person, by phone, by email, and by videoconference in English and Spanish
- Actively listen, ask questions, and share information and resources with providers, individuals, youth, and families
- Ensure receipt of intake information to refer to most appropriate community partner
- Community Response assess participants’ needs and eligibility to best refer to community partner services and supports
- Ensure completion of required forms by community partners, individuals, youth, and families engaging in Community Response
- Make referrals to community partners and program coaches and follow up on services rendered
- Actively update, distribute, and publicize the Fremont Family Coalition resource manual
- Timely administer Flex Funds for families with immediate needs when community funding options have been explored, and/or exhausted
- Maintain physical and electronic files and ensure the confidentiality of participant information
- Collect, enter, and report on data in Community Response’s online database system
- Conduct outreach activities to inform area individuals, youth, families, providers, businesses, and other groups regarding Community Response and community partner services and resources
- Engage with the community at large via Fremont Family Coalition’s social media pages and website
- Stay updated on changing federal, state, and local law, policy, programs, and services to make the most appropriate referrals for individuals, youth, and families
- Attend and facilitate trainings, presentations, and meetings, including topics such as motivational interviewing, assessment tools, family and youth centered practices, relationship building, trauma- informed practice, protective factors, and collective impact
- Lead one or more lifespan groups for the Fremont Family Coalition and facilitate strategic planning
- Participate in and lead community diversity and inclusion activities in collaboration with partner organizations, by serving on and providing administrative support for boards, teams, and councils
- Assist Executive Director with grant writing and reporting as needed
- Support fellow Central Navigator(s) as part of a team
- Inform and support Fremont Family Coalition Leadership Team, Nebraska Children and Families Foundation staff, and Fremont Area United Way staff as needed
