As the Lead AV Technician, you will be responsible for leading the installation, maintenance, and support of complex audiovisual and I.T. systems. You will oversee a team of AV technicians, ensuring high-quality performance and seamless operation of AV equipment, general I.T. equipment, and services. This role requires advanced technical expertise, organizational skills, leadership skills, and a strong commitment to customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the installation, configuration, testing, and support of advanced audiovisual equipment to include including projectors, laptops, desktops, sound systems, video conferencing systems, content management systems and displays.
- Supervise and mentor a small team of AV technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project execution.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of AV systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to plan and execute AV installations, events, meetings, and upgrades.
- Perform site surveys to assess AV needs and develop comprehensive solutions that meet client requirements.
- Document all installations, configurations, maintenance activities, and technical support provided.
- Stay current with the latest AV technologies and industry trends, implementing best practices in AV installations and support.
- Train clients and end-users on the operation and maintenance of AV equipment, ensuring they are comfortable and proficient with the systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices in all AV-related activities.
- Manage inventory of AV equipment and materials, ensuring availability for projects.
- Maintain and provide oversight of AV scheduling request.
- Other organizational technology project duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in audiovisual technology preferred.
- Proven experience with a minimum of 5 years as an AV Technician with leadership or supervisory experience.
- Proven experience reviewing AV designs to ensure they meet customer requirements and are cost effective.
- Ability to build, maintain, and design professional reports from data sources such as Service Now or MS Excel that will be presented to and monitored by I.T. Leadership teams.
- Extensive knowledge of audiovisual equipment, including projectors, sound systems, current video conferencing systems, and displays.
- Advanced proficiency in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting AV systems.
- Advanced knowledge of current enterprise conferencing software (e.g., Teams, Zoom, Webex)
- Proficiency in basic Ethernet cable installation and repair.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and at various client sites in the DMV as needed.
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, climb ladders, and perform other physical tasks associated with AV installations.
- Experience with AV control systems (e.g., Crestron, AMX, Extron, Shure).
- Knowledge of networking and IP-based AV systems.
- Certification from recognized AV organizations (e.g., AVIXA CTS, CTS-D, or CTS-I).
