Veterinary Assistant
We are currently a one doctor, well established practice with a dedicated and very close support staff. Our team of staff work seamlessly, with both the front and back staff supporting each other in every way possible. Our practice has always been family owned. Family values are evident in how the staff works and communicates with one another.
Duties:
- Medical record keeping
- Assist veterinarians/technicians in providing care and treatment to animals
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as bloodwork and urinalysis
- Clean and maintain examination rooms, kennels, and other areas
- Provide support during radiology procedures
- Educate pet owners
Experience:
-Ideal candidate is a positive, self motivated team player with attention to detail who is reliable and has a strong work ethic.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques is a plus
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations with compassion and professionalism
- Excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners and team members effectively
