Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Photography Manager to lead our team in Orange County, California. The Photography Manager will oversee all aspects of photography operations, including staff management, equipment maintenance, scheduling, and quality assurance. The ideal candidate will have a passion for photography, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and manage photographers and photographer assistants to ensure proper staffing levels and maintain high-quality standards in accordance with company guidelines and processes, to build and maintain a high performing team to drive results.
- Collaborate with the Director of Photography, Photographic Training Managers, and the Operations Manager to develop and implement a comprehensive photography training agenda for all programs, including underclass, seniors, sports, dances, and panoramas.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of photographers' work and provide timely feedback and training as needed.
- Coordinate with the Director of Photography and Photographic Training Managers to establish effective Photo Coordinator and Lead Photographer positions to support the Supervisor role.
- Maintain positive and enthusiastic teamwork both on-site at schools and in the office.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, including uniform dress code and conduct code.
- Manage photography equipment inventory, maintenance, and ordering processes.
- Produce performance plans for underperforming staff with the Director of Photography.
- Schedule photographers for assignments and communicate job details effectively.
- Monitor and report on photography quality and performance, conducting frequent field visits for training and monitoring purposes.
- Conduct individual or group meetings for ongoing development and education.
- Foster strong working relationships with internal customers, including the Director of Photography, Photographic Training Managers, and the Operations Manager, Field Managers, Photography Supervisors, and Photography Coordinator, as well as external customers such as school administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
- Managing photography budgets, tracking expenses, and monitoring profitability per location.
- Demonstrates care and concern for workplace safety and health by promoting and modeling all safety rules and regulations.
- Partners with Leaders (Photo/Operations Manager, Director of Photography, Photographic Training Managers, Field Managers) to ensure the area is aligned in all company processes and procedures with effective use of resources, identifying opportunities to strengthen area performance, and executing improvement initiatives.
- Manages the Photography budget in collaboration with the Photo/Operations Manager and Director of Photography; regularly monitors performance and takes prompt, corrective action as appropriate.
- Utilizes company resources effectively and maximizes productivity for high-quality, positive Picture Day experiences and efficient execution - including the utilization of the Picture Day Report Cards as a data point for performance feedback, development, and improvement.
- Communicates and ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as addresses non-compliance in a timely and professional manner.
- Safeguards all customers, employee and company proprietary and personal information ensuring customer and employee data is always kept confidential.
- Utilize the current Barksdale Training Model for all photographers to operate to one standard.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience; ongoing training in photography preferred.
- Proficiency in various photography styles within the school photography environment.
- Experience in managing successful teams and assets.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated photography knowledge and experience in delivering a high-quality product and customer experience.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to influence positive outcomes.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

- Possess a valid U.S. Driver's license with full use of dependable, insured automobile.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $66,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
