Responsibilities
· Responsible for outreach, education, and recruitment efforts regarding a specific, identified caseload of children awaiting adoption and potential adoptive families, as well as older youth who are likely to age out of the foster care system without familial connections.
· Demonstrate a working knowledge of the NYC child welfare system, including adoption
· Utilize the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Child-Focused Recruitment Strategy
· Establish personal relationships with referred children and youth, and assist them in honoring the past, present and future through child/youth readiness activities
· Maintain collaborative relationships with social workers, case managers, nurses, therapists, and other members of the case management teams
· Conduct an in-depth review of child’s case history
· Develop and implement a child-focused (custom) adoption recruitment plan for each child review and update quarterly
· Actively recruit permanent resources for assigned children including individuals connected to the child, biological relatives, families seeking to adopt, professional contacts in the community, area churches, and any other resource that may lead to permanency for a child
· Communicate the impact of trauma on youth and development
· Monitor successful recruitment efforts
· Follow all necessary program requirements in terms of case management, data collections, and reporting as outlined by the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program
· Participate in WWK training as well as other relevant learning opportunities
· Coordinate with supervisor or other staff on the completion of any other assigned tasks
Qualifications
· BA degree in the human services field
· 3 years experience in child welfare, including adoption
· Experience working with behaviorally challenged youth and adolescents and a passionate commitment to permanency for adolescents
· Strong public speaking, charismatic engagement and motivational skills.
· Bi-lingual (Spanish) language skills a plus.
· Ability to establish and build collaborative partnerships with child’s team and community partners
· Competence in planning, organizing, scheduling, case documentation, and strong oral and written communication abilities
· Must possess strong human relations skills to communicate and work effectively within a culturally diverse work environment and community
· Available to have a flexible work schedule, including evening and weekend hours as needed.
· Available to travel throughout New York City.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
