Hourly Rate: $44-50
Position Summary
To deliver interdisciplinary health care services for clients, observing and caring for those with substance use disorder or mental health diagnosis. Apply policy, protocols and procedures to safeguard life and health in administering medication and treatment prescribed by a licensed health professional. Provide shift assistance to support staff and act as a shift supervisor when a charge nurse is not present. Demonstrate compassionate, quality client care while providing a safe and supportive environment. Following the mission and philosophy of AICDC Withdrawal Management.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, current and effective nursing care for clients using the nursing process as a framework for client care delivery. Coordinate multiple priorities efficiently. Provide effective and professional communication with clients, coworkers, visitors, administration and other professionals.
- Triage, assess and prioritize clients medical and medication needs in an organized fashion by observing, documenting and reporting client status, implementing plan of care and assessing client status in anticipation of discharge from the unit. Administer "Condition Specific Protocols" to clients per AICDC Withdrawal Management protocols.
- Apply critical thinking while analyzing data and setting realistic client goals using assessment and interviewing skills while exploring secondary sources, IE: diagnostic tests and laboratory results. Provide clear and thorough documentation of findings into clients file and report to the Nursing Manager, and/or MD on-call with the significant findings.
- Intervene appropriately with clients, staff and other professionals in changing the plan of client care to adapt to the clients changing needs.
- Provide clients and with education about illnesses and maladies while incorporating goals for remedy in the clients discharge plan.
- Cooperate fully in assuring compliance with licensing agencies and other regulatory bodies and statutes to ensure effective, efficient and lawful operation of the unit.
- Adhere to and assist with implementing withdrawal management policies and procedures from the Medical Director.
- Attend and participate in training provided for the staff at a minimum of 15 hours per year.
- Perform any duty of which the employee is capable, as requested by management, which is reasonable and, in the interest, AICDC and its clients.
Physical Requirements
- Physical Agility: Must be able to initiate or participate in physical restraint of a client.
- Lift and/or Carry: Must be able to assist in lifting a client and/or assist in carrying a client to another area such as the QR, potentially 25 — 100+ pounds.
- Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to administer first aid procedures/CPR for an extended period of time if required.
- Push/Pull: Must be able to move a client, bed, or chair to open doors.
- Climbing: Must be able to climb three flights of stairs in case of emergency evacuations.
Position Requirements
- Two (2) years freedom from Chemical Use/Abuse problems
- Must remain free from chemical use problems as a condition of continuing employment and will be terminated from employment immediately once chemical use problems arise
- RN currently licensed in the State of Minnesota
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Sensitive to the needs of the chemically addicted, homeless, unemployed and culturally diverse client population
- Pass MDHS background check
Preferences
- Experience in the Chemical Dependency and/or Mental Health field
- Working knowledge of State licensing requirements
- Working knowledge of State Health Department licensing requirements
