Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide compassionate care to students , collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, and ensure the highest quality of patient care.

School Nurse
● In the area of student health and safety, the School Nurse:
o provides first aid, illness, and injury care by acting as a first responder during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (**or 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m**.);
o assesses student health needs, both acute and chronic, to advance both their general well-being and academic success;
o practices independently to identify student health needs and implements plans to meet those needs;
o administers medication and medical treatment as prescribed by students’ healthcare providers;
o relates information about student illness and injury, both acute and chronic, to the appropriate personnel;
o keeps timely and accurate records of student health interventions and, when appropriate, completes incident reports to be shared with the Dean of Students and Principal.
● In the area of compliance with NYS Education Department policy, the School Nurse: o commences duties one week before the start of fall athletic tryouts to receive, screen, and maintain students’ physical examination and immunization records;
o receives, screens, and maintains students’ health summary documents;
o collects, tabulates, and enters data for the NYS Immunization Survey (deadline 15 December);
o reports suspected cases of abuse to the appropriate agencies, the Assistant Principal for Student Life, and the Principal;
o reports suspected cases of communicable diseases to the appropriate agencies, the Assistant Principal for Student Life, and the Principal;
o concludes duties one week after the submission of grades to review and archive medical files of graduating seniors.
● In the area of counseling and education, the School Nurse:
o provides information to students regarding nutrition, daily health practices, and general practice of healthy behavior;
o as a guest lecturer, assists the Physical Education Department in the Sophomore Health Class by teaching of CPR, AED, and First Aid;
o provides training in CPR, AED, and First Aid to the faculty and staff.
● In the area of emergency response and preparedness, the School Nurse:
o arranges EMS transport for serious illness and injury cases;
o checks AEDs and Epi-Pens in the building on a regular basis;
o keeps track of and orders medical office supplies;
o in consultation with the Assistant Principal for Student Life, assesses annual budgetary needs and estimated expenses
