Job Summary
Responsible for the timely completion of assigned repairs, warranty work, and preventive maintenance service on automobiles.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Retrieves customer vehicles into service area for service preparation.
2. Reviews work orders and inspects vehicle accordingly for additional repairs or malfunctions by test driving or troubleshooting vehicle operation.
3. Applies technical knowledge to diagnosed cause of vehicle malfunctions.
4. Obtains final approval prior to performing additional repairs.
5. Responds to repair inquiries in a prompt manner.
6. Performs repairs and maintenance service work requested in accordance with approved quality and efficiency standards.
7. Applies knowledge and ability to safely utilize all tools and equipment to include:
- "creeper"
-hydraulic jacks
-pneumatic hand tools
-welding equipment
-brake lathes
-vehicle lifts
-tire mounting/balancing/alignment machines
-diagnostic equipment
8. Retains and tags removed parts under warranty and return to manufacturer
9. Test drives and assures proper operation of all vehicles in accordance to Department of Motor Vehicle standards
10. Completes vehicle inspections according to established procedures
11. Completes service related paperwork in detail legible format
12. Maintains technical competence by attending all classes and shop meetings as requested, and reading all service bulletins to maintain needed skills
13. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner to meet safety requirements determined by shop and government agencies
14. Discards residual waste or hazardous materials using the proper disposal methods
15. Performs other related duties as assigned
Education/Experience: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent required
3 years prior experience preferred
Certification/Licenses: ASE Certification
NYS Inspectors License
