Our Nurses are…
Leaders
Directs and assigns the activities of the nurse aides, assuring care is given according to care plans, policies, and regulations.
Creates and maintains an atmosphere of caring, calm, dignity, and personal interest.
Suggests care changes to the care team when necessary to meet the changing needs of the resident.
Regularly converses with residents and families to ensure care needs are being met in accordance with their wishes.
Coaches performance of nursing assistants as assigned.
Ensures shift is staffed, and works to find replacements for call-ins if during scheduler’s off-hours
Collaborative
Cooperates with other resident services when coordinating nursing services to ensure that the resident’s total regimen of care is maintained.
Acts as an intermediary between the physician and the rest of the care team, communicating physician orders and alerting care team or physician of any discrepancy in orders.
Ensures the nursing care team functions collaboratively and with the best interests of the residents in mind.
Quality-driven
Provides a safe and secure setting according to the plan of care. Follows established nursing and safety practices.
Admits, transfers or discharges residents as needed, educating residents and families about care in the different stages.
Completes all charting and reports as needed on a timely basis.
Prepares and administers medication as directed by the physician.
Ensures that adequate supplies of floor stock medications, supplies and equipment are available. Communicates needs to Assisted Living Manager or others as directed.
Ensures medication and especially narcotic records are accurate for assigned shift, and disposes of narcotics according to established procedures.
Compassionate
Guides nursing assistants in performing range of motion exercises and other comfort care measures.
Guides pain management as needed.
Guides nursing assistants in the care of dying residents.
Guides nursing assistants in post-mortem care.
