The Benefits Specialist supports Benefits Administration forMSM, including serving as a process and project coordinator, administering various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 403(b) and wellness benefits. This role plays a critical role in maintaining the employee benefits filing system and ensuring benefits changes are entered appropriately in the payroll system for payroll deductions and vendor systems.
A critical member of the Benefits team, this role supports many of the common daily duties and responsibilities in the Benefits department. As a core participant in benefits and retirement workflow, this role works to help support data integrity, process improvement initiatives driven inside the Benefits department, and process automation in partnership with Benefits leadership and theHRISteam.
The Benefits Specialist enables common daily duties and responsibilities in the Benefits department. The role may also include planning, coordinating, and implementing special projects for benefits administration. Tasks vary based on assignment and can range from benefits and retirement support to project assistance. This role reports to theAVPof Benefits or VP Total Rewards.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of Employee Benefits experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks requiring rigorous and meticulous attention to detail.
- Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Prior work experience with HRIS systems
- Positive attitude

Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Employee Benefits
- Prior work experience in Higher-Education
- Banner or other ERP software (Workday, etc) experience is preferred.
