Piper Shores is Maine’s premier nonprofit continuing care retirement community, offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing Care for our residents with a person-centered approach to care. We are looking for line cooks in our main dining room on our Oceanside and new Meadows campus. Cuisine includes casual to fine-dining, with classic dishes such as filet mignon and mashed potatoes to innovate plates such as bone marrow with chimichurri or house-made terrines with local cheeses.

Line Cook Responsibilities:

Preparing food including cleaning and cutting ingredients, cooking main, side and appetizer dishes.

Prepares mis en place in advance of meal service.

Ensures that food orders are prepared and plated based on Executive Chef’s standards.

Prepares meals for in-service dining as well as to-go orders

Prepares food orders placed by servers according to request and on time

May prepare food for specialty events such as parties, receptions, anniversaries, etc.
- Cleans and sanitizes work station after service
- Follows proper food handling techniques and coordinates the use of time, material and equipment.
Prep Cook Responsibilities:

Washes, chops, peels and slices ingredients such as fruits, vegetables and meats.

Plates salads according to recipe or special instruction. Assists with plating desserts as needed.
- Labels and stocks ingredients

May measure or prepare seasonings or other ingredients for line cooks.

Cleans and sanitizes work station

Follow proper food handling techniques and coordinates the use of time, material and equipment.
Qualifications:
-
Prior experience preparing food in a restaurant, hospital or long-term care kitchen preferred. Training provided to entry-level candidates.
- Ability to read, understand and recipes.
- Strong organizational and active listening skills

Ability to determine taste and texture quality of prepared food items.
- Warm and friendly demeanor with a positive approach to interacting with Seniors and co-workers
- Ability to stand and move for extended period of time, ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently required.
