Hardware Engineer
Alta Solutions has 28 years of experience as a leading manufacturer of real-time signal processing instrumentation used to reduce global emissions on the world’s largest gas turbines and protect critical machinery from catastrophic failures. Alta has an opening for a full-time hardware engineer to help develop our next generation of products.
Job Duties
- Participates in all aspects of electrical hardware development including concept, technology selection, system architecture, component selection, design reviews, schematic capture, PCB layout, documentation, initial testing, qualification, certification, and product release.
- Integral member of development team determining new product roadmap
- Analyze customer needs and establish product objectives, specifications, and technical solutions to ensure products satisfy customer requirements and deliverables
- Design and implement test fixtures including test plans for both board level and system level environments. Create reusable circuits that can be utilized across multiple projects.
Required Skills
- Experience designing mixed signal PCB circuits containing high-speed ADCs, FPGAs, and DSPs.
- Working knowledge of common communication protocols, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, 1-Wire
- Experience using Altium Designer and/or OrCAD for schematic capture. PCB layout experience is a plus.
- Experienced with use of Multi-meters, Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzer, Signal Generators
- Working mechanical aptitude. Familiarity with designs for harsh industrial environments is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of grounding schemes.
- Solid understanding of system-level and PCB-level thermal issues.

Education and Experience:
- 4-year Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
- 7+ years experience
