Overview:
We are currently seeking an ambitious, hard-working, passionate sous chef to join our team at our local and thriving restaurant. The Sous Chef is responsible for providing leadership and bak of the house operations consistent with Executive Chef. The chef must effectively control scheduling and labor cost, train and educate staff, maintain consistency of quality and standard, manage ordering and inventory, and contribute to the maintenance of the kitchen facilities and equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to create and execute menus that meet quality standards
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Assist in managing kitchen staff and coordinating kitchen activities
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Help develop new recipes and maintain high standards for food quality
- Manage inventory and control food costs
- Support banquet and special event catering when needed
- Ability to assists others in developing skills needed for effective job performance
-Complete knowledge of the basic fundamentals of cooking
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Sous Chef or in a similar role
- Strong background in restaurant operations, menu planning, and shift management
- Knowledge of food service management and culinary techniques
- Ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff to achieve culinary excellence
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus
-Ability to lift 50 pounds, work long hours as needed
-Must be able to multitask with an excellent attention to detail while overseeing kitchen personnel
-Have experience creating a maintaining prep list, placing orders, and working with vendors
-Responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities of fellow employees
-Excellent knife skills
-Keen eye for product utilization
