St. Andrews Healthcare is looking for a Infection Preventionist Full Time Days ( LVN) to care for our patients and facilitate their speedy recovery. We are are a 59 bed Skilled Nursing Facility.
The ideal candidate will be a responsible and well-trained professional able to give the best nursing care with little supervision. You will be compassionate and cool-tempered. You will be able to follow health and safety guidelines faithfully and consistently. The goal is to promote patient’s well-being by providing high quality nursing care.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the infection control program ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines in nursing care facilities.
- Ensure facility compliance with CDC, CDPH, LACDPH, OSHA, and local regulations pertaining to infection control and standard precautions.
- Collaborate on the design and execution of the Infection Control Program and associated protocols.
- Create and update infection control measures and aseptic techniques to address any identified issues effectively.
- Oversee COVID-19 monitoring, contact tracing, and reporting on a daily/weekly basis.
- Coordinate COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts.
- Develop Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Training for facility residents and Healthcare Personnel (HCP), tailored to their learning needs.
- Monitor adherence to protocols, provide feedback to HCPs, and assess the effectiveness of educational programs.
- Supervise compliance with the Antibiotic Stewardship Program and Infection Control Policies.
- Produce monthly summaries detailing infections, corrective actions, and outcomes, sharing these with relevant personnel.
- Prepare reports on special investigations concerning nosocomial and community-acquired infections.
- Keep detailed records of all acquired infections and participate in clinical meetings to ensure infection control compliance.
- Assist in the creation and delivery of in-service training programs for support services focusing on infection control.
- Employ epidemiological principles for surveillance and investigative activities.
- Demonstrate effective communication with regulators, staff, residents, visitors, and the public.
- Proficiency in spoken, written, and reading English.
Skills:
- Proficiency in developing care plans related to infection prevention
- Ability to manage and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals
- Knowledge of anatomy and aseptic techniques
- Strong data management skills for tracking and reporting infections
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and guidelines
- Understanding of public health principles in a hospital setting
- Experience working with medical records systems
Requirements
- Specialized training and experience in infection prevention and control within long-term care facilities.
- Certification in Infection Control is advantageous.
- Prior clinical experience in long-term care nursing.
- Familiarity with epidemiological principles and infectious diseases.
- Active California LVN license.
- Infection Preventionist Certification.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Will Training NEW IP Nurse ( must have at least 1 year Exp Working in a Skilled Nursing Facility)
