Job Summary:
The Patient Service Representative is primarily responsible for ensuring high quality customer service and continuation of care. The Patient Service Representative is utilized in performing typical front office functions and referrals. The Patient Service Representative must have knowledge of all areas related to insurance and front desk tasks. This role will need someone with Phlebotomy experience, as well as the ability to manager patients front desk experience. Excellent customer service skills and good communication skills. Ability to multi-task while providing good patient care. Good computer skills and ability to learn new computer systems as needed. Primary skills include verbal and written communication with patients to promote continuity of care and follow-up. Good computer skills, and the ability to learn new computer systems as needed.
The following represents the majority of duties performed by this position but is not meant to be inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assumed when necessary:
- Schedule imaging appointments for patients, including collecting information necessary to assess MR safety (e.g., implant/surgery cards, etc.).
- Checking in/out patients for MRI procedures.
- Obtaining Co-pays and past due balances and completing the daily balance verification.
- Support Research Teams with administrative and phlebotomy duties.
- Complete insurance verifications and prior authorizations needed for each patient.
- Communication with referring physicians’ offices.
- Develop good working relationships with outside doctors and clinics.
- Recording client information, phone calls, actions, etc on appropriate forms and/or EMR.
- Work on quarterly reports.
- Scan PHI medical documents into the EMR system.
- General front-office support for Hardesty Center
- Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Operations Administrator
Environmental Hazards:
Possible exposure to hazardous material, hot and cold, blood borne pathogens.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 8-10 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Required:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Six (6) months related job experience in a medical office or equivalent
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Phlebotomy Certification
Preferred:
- Experience securing insurance pre-certification
- Experience working with computers and software, performing data entry, answering the telephone, and scheduling appointments
- Ability to take telephone messages and have an understanding of medical terminology
- Experience with electronic medical records; Epic highly desirable
- Experience in a diagnostic imaging environment highly desirable
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.88 per hour
