The Tin Scoop Cafe is looking for crew members with a passion for customer service to join our team! We are a brand new cafe opening up in the heart of Marina District, in downtown San Diego right next to Kettner & G Tabacaria. Our offerings include cold-pressed juice made daily, fresh cut fruit cups, pastries, sandwiches, locally sourced ice cream, and European coffee & tea. This is a part-time position that allows anywhere from 15-30 hours a week. The hours for this position will be 4-6 hour shifts between 5AM - 11PM. A crew member is expected to work three to five (3-5) shifts per week and must be available to work weekdays and weekends.
ABOUT US:
The Tin Scoop Cafe is a brand new European-style cafe, offering a quick grab & go service for delicious, high quality food and drinks. We are seeking talented and motivated individuals with exceptional customer service skills, preferably with prior knowledge about cold-pressed juice, coffee, ice cream and general cafe workflow.
We want to create an environment that our team loves and we anticipate our employees will remain with us for an extended time. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of the product lines offered and great customer service skills. At a minimum, we need candidates willing to take the initiative to learn about all of our offerings and provide our customers with an experience that they will remember.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service, ensuring guest satisfaction
- Utilize Clover POS to ring up customers, handle payments and complete basic
- reporting
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process orders and payments accurately
- Prepare and serve food items according to company standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure food safety
- Assist with inventory management and restocking supplies as needed
- Promote and upsell menu items to increase sales
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations
- Food preparation; including displaying pastries, making fresh sandwiches and fresh juice daily
- Take coffee or tea order and make accurately based on customer preferences
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Food Handler’s certification
- Basic math skills for cash handling and order processing
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor
- Ability to handle food safely and follow proper hygiene practices
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience in food service or kitchen operations is preferred but not required
- Experience with cold pressed juice
- Experience using a cold pressed juice machine
- Knowledge about benefits of juicing and juice combinations
