Woodmeister is a high-end residential builder and millwork company providing renovations, custom cabinetry, architectural woodworking, and new home construction for discerning clientele. We are seeking an experienced Architectural Job Captain to join our Design team. In this position, you will lead the project design process by developing conceptual architectural designs for all types of construction- including ground-up projects, renovations, and additions. You’ll also play a key role in our partnership with external design and architectural firms.
Core Responsibilities:
· Lead interactions with clients, account executives, project managers, and other architects in developing project design, programming, and planning to assure interpretations of client expectations are met. Projects may range from smaller retrofits to large-scale builds.
· Set agendas for client/design meetings and publish meeting notes/project correspondence.
· Maintain open and frequent communication with departments involved in the project, including Design, Sales, Marketing, Millwork, and Construction.
· Follow up and track open design items and communication progress.
· Coordinate and track the efforts of outside design professionals (Architects and Interior Designers) and Consultants (structural, site, MEP, etc.).
· Maintain design intent and cohesiveness throughout all projects.
· Research product specifications and systems required for each project.
· Review all projects periodically to ensure quality control.
· Responsible for design schedules, deliverable dates, and design milestones.
Required Qualifications -
· Must have architectural and design experience in a high-end residential construction field with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
· Ideal candidates will have a blend of both Revit and AutoCAD skills, but experience with just one is acceptable.
· Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
· Working knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and professional practices.
· Thorough knowledge of assembling drawing packages, including plans, interior/exterior elevations, sections, details, schedules, cover sheets, etc. From schematic design to construction documents.
· Sensitive to meeting project deliverables- on budget, scope, and schedule
· Comfortable working with a team and presenting to others, ability to work in various design styles – Modern, traditional, transitional, etc.
· Ability to manage design staff, when needed on large project, or when running multiple projects simultaneously.
· Maintaining positive customer relations.
· Valid drivers license to perform occasional (1 day/week) travel for client site visits.
Other Skills that are preferred -
· A degree in Architecture and/or Licensed Architect is highly preferred.
· Hand sketching and rendering abilities.
· High-end residential kitchen and bath design with architectural millwork/casework.
· Experience with Enscape
· The use of Procore construction management software
· Knowledge in millwork and casework construction methods and detailing
