The Carnegie Mellon Biomedical Engineering department seeks to transform healthcare worldwide through interdisciplinary engineering innovation and to train future leaders and innovators in biomedical engineering.
We have an immediate opening for a Senior Laboratory Technician to join our Biomedical Engineering department. We are looking for someone who is people oriented, organized, and would enjoy supporting faculty and students in their Biomedical Engineering research and education. This position will be a key player working under the Collaboratory Manager and lead Teaching Professor in the management of BME's collaborative lab facilities in Scott Hall and teaching lab in Smith Hall. This position will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and training related to the new BioShare shared equipment recharge center, for the daily monitoring and troubleshooting of the Smith Hall teaching lab, and assisting with the oversight of the Scott Hall Collaboratories.
Core responsibilities include:
Overseeing the safety and smooth functioning of our Smith Hall Teaching Lab.
Managing and training users on microscopy and other analytical equipment for our new Level 1 Equipment Recharge Center, BioShare.
Providing support to our Collaboratory Manager in the efficient operations of the Scott Hall Collaboratorties, and our new bioprinting room, BioForge.
Supporting the research of all faculty research labs, including faculty members, postdocs, and graduate students by providing a safe and smooth functioning lab.
Maintaining and managing equipment repairs, providing training on techniques and equipment, and restocking of common lab supplies.
Monitoring the general condition of an open laboratory and working with the executive committee to rectify problems and improve the collaborative environment.
Other duties as assigned.
