Recruiting Solutions is seeking a Residential Maintenance Technician for a property management group in Charleston, SC. This is a day shift direct-hire position with competitive pay and benefits. The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be primarily responsible for the routine maintenance, repair, and upkeep of five private event venues, as well as multiple residential and tenant properties. To excel in this role, the individual must be trustworthy, reliable, skilled in various trades, able to work well in a team, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks.
Residential Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of general maintenance tasks, including painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, HVAC troubleshooting, and more, across all PPHG-owned buildings, grounds, utilities, mechanical/electrical systems, parking areas, roadways, kitchen equipment, and vehicle fleet.
- Establish and execute preventative maintenance programs for PPHG using manufacturers’ recommendations and job knowledge, including managing the tools and equipment required for the tasks.
- Maintain an essential inventory of grounds and facilities supplies, and purchase necessary supplies and equipment within the company's purchasing guidelines.
- Conduct routine and scheduled foot patrols of company assets, grounds, and parking lots, maintaining high visibility at all times.
- Meet a flexible work schedule, including weekends, and be available on-call for emergencies via telephone, cell phone, text messages, and emails.
Residential Maintenance Technician Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in commercial building maintenance or a similar role.
- Skilled in light plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance, with all repairs and updates performed with high attention to detail.
- Possess a diverse skill set for problem-solving and devising project plans for preventive maintenance tasks.
- Comfortable with heights and insects.
- Certifications and extensive experience in HVAC and refrigeration or commercial kitchen equipment maintenance and repairs are a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License and transportation.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Able to handle all on-call needs and requests as necessary.

- Effective communication skills to maintain relationships with other staff, faculty, and the community.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds without assistance.
- Frequently required to walk distances; use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. May require climbing and working from ladders.
- Occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects, climb ladders, stand for long periods, operate machinery, and drive company vehicles.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus at various distances.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and walking; work is both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions and extreme weather for periods of time, as well as exposure to dust and harsh chemicals.
- Maintain and enforce all applicable OSHA, DHEC, and DEQ programs.
- Walk over uneven terrain to make repairs and inspections.
- Squat, stoop, kneel to examine facilities and equipment.
- Climb ladders and scaffolding to make inspections.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, including emergency situations.
