ABOUT NORTHSTAR:
NorthStar Clubhouse is a Clubhouse International model accredited evidence-based, mental health recovery program, operating under the auspices of New Narrative Integrative Mental Health. At Clubhouses, staff work side by side with members to run the club and help members achieve their rehabilitation goals.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for working in partnership with the Clubhouse Program Director, other Clubhouse Staff, and Clubhouse Members to create a strong and vibrant Clubhouse community. As a member of the Clubhouse team, the successful candidate will assist the members in actively participating in the clubhouse “work-ordered day” with the goal of achieving personal recovery goals, especially employment and/or educational goals.
The Membership Coordinator performs most of their work within the context of the Membership Department, overseeing the referral process and new member recruitment by promoting and facilitating the weekly orientation group. The coordinator is encouraged to enlist team members to help them to complete their work and achieve the goals and deliverables identified in this job description.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: (other duties may be assigned):
The primary function of this position is to assist new members in becoming successfully involved in the clubhouse program. In the following ways:
Work side-by-side with clubhouse members to involve them in the activities necessary to engage new members in the clubhouse program.
Engage members in the work-ordered day to help them gain confidence, experience, and skills that will help them to achieve greater life satisfaction, stabilization, and obtain employment. This includes working side-by-side with members to provide modeling and encouragement.
Make contact with other mental health providers to facilitate the referral of new members. Work to develop strong working relationships with these organizations to ensure a consistent and reliable source of referrals over time.
Assist the Program Director to ensure that an effective intake process is in place in NorthStar. Always perform your work with the NorthStar membership to ensure that members are deriving the maximum benefit from the program by being involved “in all aspects of the clubhouse program” (one of our clubhouse standards).
Assist with data collection and information technology management efforts.
Assist with the operation of the Transitional Employment Placement (TEP). All staff will have Transitional Employment (TE) management responsibility and will be responsible for “covering” Transitional Employment when the member employee is not able to report for his/her placement. The Employment Coordinator will assign management responsibility and coordinate the coverage of all NorthStar Clubhouse TE placements.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have an understanding and commitment to the Clubhouse International Model of psychiatric rehabilitation and its underlying values and principles. Experience in not-for-profit and/or human service organizations preferred.
Education and/or Experience:
At least 1-2 years of experience with people living with mental illness (any combination of work, volunteer, or lived experience accepted). Bachelor's degree in a human service related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Eligibility for QMHA and/or Peer Support Specialist Certification preferred. Valid Oregon Driver's License and current insurance/acceptable driving record.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally asked to lift and/or move up to 30lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
