Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Surgical Coordinator to join our team. As an Assistant Surgical Coordinator, you will be responsible for performing office duties in support of general medical office activities to relieve medical professionals of clerical and administrative details and to maintain an efficient and effective operation. This is a vital role in our healthcare facility.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with Surgical Coordinator assisting with scheduling surgeries, follow-up appointments as designated by physicians.
- Give patients paperwork to complete putting together their medical charts and verifying their insurance information.
- Ensure all pre-operative requirements are met, including patient consultations, diagnostic tests, and medical clearances.
- Communicate with patients regarding surgical instructions, pre-operative preparations, and post-operative care.
- Arrange necessary equipment and supplies for each surgical procedure.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date surgical schedules and patient records.
- Collaborate with insurance providers to obtain pre-authorization for surgeries.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and protocols related to surgical coordination.
- Follow all written protocols and procedures of the Practice.
- Assist patients with their documents and sign-in procedures.
- Coordinate processes and route all paperwork as required to meet physician and facility requirements.
- Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and their families.
- Schedule mutually acceptable appointment times for patients and physicians.
- Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent, emergent situations.
- Answer telephones and e-mails as well as questions about surgical times, appointments and instructions.
- Scan all necessary documents in to the intake system.
- Answer patient questions to ensure understanding and patient satisfaction.
- Must be able to multi-task since position is multi-faceted and past paced .
- Follow up with patients and/or their representatives and physicians' offices to gather missing data and materials in order to complete intake process.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical terminology and word processing.
- Excellent organizational, communications and interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.

Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
