Purpose and Scope:
Ensures that the health needs of students are met, service delivery is monitored and evaluated, and adequate communication is provided to others participating in the care of the students.
Essential Job Functions:
1.Administers first aid to staff/ students, medication and specialized medical treatments.2.Conducts comprehensive health assessments of the child in relation to the school setting.3.Assists with mandated screenings (e.g. vision, dental, hearing, etc.). 4.Collaborates with other school systems, departments and agencies to conduct assessments for the purposes of identifying health issues and/or providing information.5.Counsels students, faculty/staff and families on specific and general health conditions and lifestyle issues.6.Develops and Implements health care plans for students with health care problems.7.Serves as health liaison between school, physicians, parents and community.8.Performs other related duties as assigned or directed
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires Bachelors of Science or a Diploma from an accredited School of Nursing. Requires (3) three years successful clinical experience, school nursing experience preferred. Requires a current Tennessee license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
