The Thought Disorders Unit is an 17-bed unit on our Baltimore/Washington campus, in Elkridge, MD that serves adults 18 and older with a wide variety of psychiatric diagnoses, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and psychotic disorders. The inpatient treatment focus is on crisis stabilization and medication management by a psychiatrist, with an average length of stay of between five and 10 days.
As a Registered Nurse/RN you will:
- Perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans.
- Administer medical treatment as prescribed by physician.
- Teach and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families.
- Provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff.
- Document and report patient progress to treatment team.
Requirements:
- Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland (or compact state) at time of appointment and continuously while in position.
- Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing-acquired through at least one year of inpatient RN experience; prior LPN inpatient experience will be considered with every one year of LPN experience equating to 6 months RN experience
- Must be able to work at least four shifts per month
- All new clinical staff will begin their extended clinical orientation/training immediately following your first day of employment.
