We are seeking an experienced Driver Supervisor who is passionate about customer service and supporting the daily success of our driver teammates. The primary purpose of this position is to manage, coordinate, and schedule a fleet of drivers so that they safely and efficiently execute the daily operations plan. The Driver Supervisor must be a proactive, self-directing leader capable of consistently making decisions that minimize risk and increase the efficiency of operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist company ownership with the following: Recruit, interview, select, train, motivate, coach, and mentor delivery drivers.
- Manage the accurate and efficient loading of all vehicles for delivery.
- Manage all delivery driver route dispatch communications.
- Ensure drivers protect and secure all merchandise while handling and loading it
- Enforce all performance expectations including employee on-time expectations
- Document merchandise damage, missing items or discrepancies which take place at load out or on route and take corrective action steps.
- Create and document standard work processes for all driver and Supervisor tasks.
- Monitor driver safety while on route and ensure they are complying with labor, DOT, and OSHA requirements
- Monitor driver completions and relay on-time percentages, damage percentages and completion percentages all throughout the workday to ensure high levels of service, completion, and on-time deliveries.
- Must be able to perform driver job responsibilities and assume route to backfill for drivers as needed.
- Conduct daily meetings with drivers to communicate daily objectives and performance updates
- Maintain daily and weekly reports that demonstrate performance to business KPIs
- Conduct ride behind evaluation of drivers to determine skill levels and development opportunities
- Assist in the daily maintenance review of fleet vehicles; schedule maintenance and communicate concerns to owners.
Requirements
· Experience driving a delivery vehicle
High School diploma or equivalent
· Proficient with smart phone technology, computers, and the Microsoft Office Suite
· Lean and Continuous Process Improvement knowledge and experience
· Experience with maintaining a safe work environment by monitoring and enforcing safety procedures
· Document and escalate information to ownership associated with any safety concerns
· Strong problem-solving techniques and statistical analysis skills
· Entails standing, sitting, or walking for lengthy periods of time
· Ability to work and perform in office and warehouse environments
- Must be 21+ and have a valid driver’s license
- Must consent to a background check and drug screen
- Must have a clean motor vehicle report. (Multiple violations and accidents will disqualify you from the position)
- Must be able to operate a delivery van with an automatic transmission
- Must be able to move packages up to 50 lbs. independently or more with assistance.
