The Registered Nurses (RN) at Bluegrass Community Health Center (BCHC) serve all people with care and respect. Our RNs take on many roles: they perform competent and compassionate care to patients, coordinate patient care as a team leader in a Patient-Centered Medical Home, and they also complete a variety of other administrative duties to ensure successful operation of the clinic. The excellent service BCHC Registered Nurses provide helps patients choose BCHC as their health home.
**$500 sign on bonus after six months of employment**
The Registered Nurse will:
Provide excellent service to patients according to Patient Centered Medical Home principles within scope of practice of a Registered Nurse
- Will act as liaison to Associate Director/Clinic Practice related to staffing issues such as tardiness, not performing assigned tasks or creating a less than optimal work environment.
- Will take call ins from staff at respective site and work as Charge Nurse for the day and report to Supervisor.
- Will assist front office with scrubbing the schedule and moving patients to promote optimal clinic flow
- Will order supplies through appropriate vendor with Supervisor approval as required including Vaccines, Medications and Family Planning Contraceptives.
- Will help monitor equipment and report to appropriate vendor or Supervisor issues that may arise that inhibit clinic work flow.
- Manage clinic flow to ensure maximum efficiency. Delegate tasks as appropriate to clinical assistants. Observe and manage wait time for patients as a means to optimal customer service.
- Serve as clinical liaison to other departments.
- Manage medical phone calls and documents in EMR per policy.
- Review provider organizer and manages flags/phone calls/consults/path labs/radiology/incoming medical records per policy.
- Utilize UK Portal and KASPER system to obtain required patient medical information.
- Follow written or verbal Provider order to administer prescribed medications, vaccinations, injections, and all technical clinical tests performed in clinic. May also assists with medical procedures.
- Participate in and manage Refugee Health Screening with provider and completes forms as outlined in process. Assists clinical assistants with meeting guidelines for RHS. Use language line and appropriate medical interpreting. Demonstrate cultural competency with patient interactions.
- Conduct nurse encounters with patients for family planning, vaccines, education and triage.
- Attends Outreach Events and Health Fairs as scheduled by Supervisor.
Manage Clinic Quality
- Acts as Vaccine Coordinator (if identified) at respective site and participates in VFC Audits and field audits.
- Will demonstrate expertise in HIPAA laws and is able to direct other staff with appropriate contact with phone calls and others who may enter the clinic
- Assists with Pharmacy Medication Management of 340 b Program and other medications
- Manage clinical resources in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Manage lab supplies ensuring adequate supplies are in- house for required tests. Manage in-house medications including ordering and dating new meds, and disposing of expired meds.
- Manage quality controls on all equipment and document appropriately. Delegate tasks to appropriate staff and inspect for quality compliance. Report to clinic manager trends of noncompliance.
- Observe clinic daily for cleanliness and biohazard safety. Practice universal precautions and instructs clinical assistants when areas of concern are identified.
- Identify and communicate problems related to clinical operations to Associate Director Clinical Practice.
- Act as liaison to all other staff members to promote team work and standardized operating procedures for clinic.
- Assist in orienting and training new team members, students and volunteers as needed.
- Assist in informally evaluating team members.
- Perform all required training, attend all mandatory meetings and reinforce guidelines set forth from meetings with team members.
Triage
- Triage patients to assist with clinic flow when necessary. Perform in- house labs and tests per standing orders. Document history and appropriate medical information in EMR.
Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned
- Networks and completes professional development activities to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Attends meetings, training, and other events as requested.
- Provides backup coverage and assistance to other employees as required or requested.
- Offers to assist others in the department to effectively handle workload.
- Cross-trains others and participates in cross-training to enhance skills.
- Acts in compliance with contracts, laws, regulations, BCHC policy, procedures and standards.
- Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
