Job Summary:
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk/Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will maintain all areas of finance reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. This position is responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely records and financial reports. Computes employee's weekly payroll and enters information in the computer payroll program; maintains all necessary reports regarding payroll, earnings and deductions.
Duties:
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial, reporting and general ledger structure
- Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end reports. Prepares sales tax and quarterly reports; makes payments
- Responds to inquiries from the owner regarding financial reports and non-routine reporting request.
- Makes deposits and takes to the bank
- Reconciles bank statements by comparing statements with general ledger
- Maintains accounting databases by entering data into the computer; filing documents
- Protects company's value by keeping information confidential
- Prepares reports by compiling summaries of sales, purchases, etc.
- Keeps all the accounts of the company flawless and up-to-date
- (AP) Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verifying Federal ID Numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase orders, contract invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos
- Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices
- (AR) Sends out monthly statements; tracks and resolves outstanding payment issues; interacts with customers to resolve outstanding balances
- (PR) Reviews and calculates timecards following personnel policies for overtime and deductions
- Maintains payroll information
- Prepares and issues payroll checks on a weekly basis
- Prepares payroll reports
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
Requirements:
- Proven work experience as an Accounting Clerk/Bookkeeper or similar role
- Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- 2 Years QuickBooks experience
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting
Skills:
- Ability to file and transcribe documents accurately
- Computer literacy, particularly in accounting software
- Ability to type efficiently
