Job Description
The Cardiac Cath Lab/ IR Nurse provides care to patients who undergo procedures. The nursing staff is often required to assist physicians during examinations and procedures. The nurse's first and foremost responsibility is managing patient care prior to, during, and after procedures. The nurse must demonstrate proficiency in managing multiple patients at one time. Candidates with recent telemetry experience will be considered. Recent critical care experience is preferred. The nurse is part of team which works in the procedural environment. They monitor, sedate, and assess patients during diagnostic/therapeutic procedures. Teamwork is a must in this collaborative environment.
Job Duties

Pre-Op patients for procedure, including starting IV lines and administering medications

Provide Patient & family education regarding pre, intra and post procedure
- Prepares patients in procedural suite

Circulates and assists

Sedates and monitors patients

Performs the proper handling of patient tissue samples

Establish and maintain patient IV access

Responds to contrast reactions

Administers medications as ordered by the physician

Makes recommendations to the referring physician, the patient, and family, under the guidance of the physician

Orchestrates patient discharge
Equipment Duties
The nurse will demonstrate their knowledge of all business/medical equipment functionality and report problems when identified. They must have an above average ability to use phone, fax, EMR and all monitoring devices.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have successfully graduated from an approved nursing program

RN license in the state(s) position is listed for
-
2+ years critical care or coronary care cath lab experience (preferred) or 2+ years of telemetry experience

Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail

Skill in data entry with minimal errors

Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports, and correspondences

Ability to work independently in a collaborative environment
-
Must successfully complete CME compliance training, as required by CiC
-
BLS/ACLS required

Must maintain high patient privacy standards and adhere to HIPAA guidelines

Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion

Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills

Must be willing to be flexible as to shifts and schedules
