Position Summary
The Junior Power System engineer performs a range of power system and engineering studies with a focus on arc flash risk assessment as well as supporting our electrical reliability and design services. The position includes interacting with our other engineers, field services team members, electrical safety team members, sales and services team members, project coordinators, partners and clients.
- Model electrical systems based on data provided from field technicians.
- Perform power system engineering studies including Arc Flash Risk Assessments, Short Circuit, Device Coordination, Power Flow and related studies.
- Prepare estimates for engineering study proposals.
- Prepare and deliver arc flash, infrared and switchgear reports
- Consult with clients on report findings and deliverables.
- Consult and support sales, service and field team members with technical information.
Experience and Qualifications
- BS or MS in Power System Engineering
- Minimum 2 years related work experience
- Knowledge of Power Systems analysis methods including Arc Flash, Power Flow, Short Circuit, and Coordination.
- Knowledge of and application of NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE 1584.
- Experience working with SKM, software required.
- Familiar with industrial power distribution system designs and equipment
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently as needed
- Strong communication, presentation skills
- Medium and High Voltage, and Alternative Energy power systems knowledge a plus
- Experience with ETAP and EasyPower is a plus
Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college; or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
- At least 2 years experience in modeling electrical distribution systems.
