Role:
Provides leadership, direction and administers operations of the Laboratory Department.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with Clinic Administration, Pathology and Clinical Laboratory Medical Directors develop and maintain appropriate controls, policies, procedures and outcome monitoring mechanisms.
- Develops annual budget and oversees profit and loss for laboratory divisions.
- Assists business leaders with sales efforts and promotes new opportunities to improve financial outcomes through lab services. Analyzes profitability of new services in conjunction with financial team.
- Hires qualified personnel and ensures that laboratory staff are appropriately trained.
- Develops and monitors customer service improvement efforts for internal and external customers.
- Ensures laboratory divisions meet or exceed established operating goals, including but not limited to, quality testing and turnaround times.
- Supervises the daily activities of laboratory scientists, technicians and clerical personnel.
Performance Measures:
- Provides leadership within the laboratory and serves as advocate for the Clinic within the community.
- Maintains professional and friendly atmosphere for patients and staff.
- Ensures maintenance of patient confidentiality.
- Keeps current on regulatory issues and all technical laboratory issues.
- Develops goals and provides appropriate accountability for their attainment.
- Observes all clinic policies and guidelines.
