Overview:
Waddell, Cole & Jones is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team. As a Legal Assistant, you will provide essential support to our attorneys and assist in the management of legal cases. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for the legal field and strong organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with partners and legal secretary on the management of practice
- Draft estate plan documents, contracts, and other legal documents
- Prepare real estate documents including deeds, contracts, leases, and 1031 exchange documents
- Draft, file, and manage probate cases
- Form corporate entities and draft associated documents
- File legal documents with state and federal courts
- Record deeds, easements, and other relevant documents
- Draft correspondence and manage client communication
- Schedule appointments and manage calendars
- Attend client meetings as a notary public and witness
- Organize physical and electronic files
- Ability to multitask and manage a heavy workload effectively
- Assist in the supervision of legal secretaries, including delegation and management of duties
- Perform copying, scanning, transcription, and spreadsheet tasks
- Billing timekeeping
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
- Paralegal certification preferred
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a law firm or legal department
- Proficiency in legal research and drafting legal documents
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software applications
- Notary public commission preferred
