Manages and coordinates the functions of assigned Billing Staff and the overall function of the Billing Department. The Billing Manager provides oversight of staff duties, which include: coordinating with insurance companies to ensure coverage of services; applying payments to patient electronic ledgers; monitoring pending payments and calculating balances; providing financial counseling for patients and assisting with payment agreements; analyzing aging reports; and providing assistance to providers and staff with applying appropriate codes for services rendered. The Billing Manager also ensures appropriate month-end and year-end closings are completed and is responsible for maintaining organization through continuous review and update of written Policies and Procedures.
Applicants for the Billing Manager positions must have a High-School or General Equivalency Diploma or higher, 2-5 years working in a medical billing office setting, and 2-3 years managerial experience. These applicants must possess critical thinking, research skills, organizational skills, computer knowledge with emphasis on EMR systems, understanding of general mathematics, knowledge of medical insurance claims procedures, knowledge of ICD and CPT codes, and general understanding of medical terminology.
Starting salary dependent on experience.
