As an RBT/Autism Associate Teacher, you will work alongside a supportive team in a small class ratio sizes where you will help address social skill development, language and communication, executive functioning, academic skills, activities of daily living, fine and gross motor skills, sensory intervention, prevocational skills, art and music skills, and behavior support. You will gain vital experience working alongside speech & language pathologists, occupational therapists, behavior specialists, intervention specialists, music, art & recreational therapists. Values Staff Members:
- Proactively communicates with Lead Teacher/Intervention Specialist and classroom team to problem solve concerns or questions.
- Collaborate with team on development of plans and classroom activities weekly
Values Students:
- Supervise students in his/her care at all times
- Collect data weekly as assigned by Lead Classroom Teacher/Intervention Specialist and related services personnel
- Meet with classroom team weekly to discuss student progress and skill acquisition
- Meet the individual needs of students by individualizing instruction within the classroom environment
- Prepare materials and implement lesson plans as directed by the Lead Classroom Teacher/Intervention Specialist
Values Parents:
- Communicate and work with parents as directed by the Lead Classroom Teacher/Intervention Specialist regarding academic, behavioral, emotional and social concerns
- Complete daily communication log for students with input from Lead Classroom Teacher/Intervention Specialist and related services personnel

- Follow student behavior intervention plans and collect data accordingly
- Show evidence of a positive learning environment through classroom supports and strategies and implementing a variety of teaching methods
- Assist and encourage students in developing their academic and social potential
- Ensure the safety of students by accompanying them across learning settings during the school day or school activities as assigned
Operates with Integrity:
- Carry out all policies and procedures in a professional manner as outlined in STEPS policies and procedures manual
- Contribute to the cleanliness and maintenance of the assigned classroom including organizing materials and teaching stimuli, sterilizing toys and surface areas, placing trash in designated area to be collected, and other daily needs to ensure a clean learning environment
- Attend professional in-services in areas related to job responsibilities
- Willingly share information/expertise with colleagues
- Ensure STEPS Educational Group confidentiality agreement for students is maintained
- Meet all deadlines for turning in required paperwork (including but not limited to IEP data, behavior data, notebook checks, field trip paperwork)
- Complete paperwork in a neat and legible manner.
- Complete all required trainings
- Maintain integrity of STEPS Educational Group Model
- Complete other related tasks as assigned
Work Environment:
Position can require or involve some degree of physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling physical behavior.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to use a variety of equipment for children with special needs. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment. Must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds (and/or up to adult size body weight with two-to-three person lift).
