Job Summary
We are seeking a Customer Service Clerk to join our team. In this role, you will communicate with customers to identify their needs, process requests, and provide helpful solutions that ensure they have a great customer service experience with our company. The ideal candidate is friendly, computer savvy, and is able to remain calm under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Receive inbound calls and emails
- Identify the reason for the customer’s call, and collect relevant information
- Use best practices in customer service techniques to develop rapport and build relationships with customers
- Document all customer interactions
- process customer payments in person or over the phone
- Greeting customers when they walk through the door
- Building rapport through conversation and honest recommendations
- Ringing up sales and arranging for delivery or pick-up of the customer’s order if needed
- Inviting customers to search the company’s website for coupons and other ways to save money
- Informing customers of any extra charges if necessary
- Inviting the customer to join a loyalty program if there is one
- Assisting in maintaining the back stock room and setting up merchandise displays on the sales floor
- Collaborating with fellow team members to keep the sales floor area clean and organized at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- Previous experience as a Customer Service Representative or in a similar role is preferred
- Comfortable using computers and customer management software
- Excellent phone and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize projects and manage time effectively
