Job Overview:
Provide a safe, stimulating environment for young children in the preschool educational setting. Teachers assist in the care and guidance of young children, assisting in promoting the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of all children.
State Required Education
*(PREFERRED) A Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child/Youth Development or a CDA credential, OR
*A high school diploma and 1500 verifiable clock hours of experience in organized group activities (must have positive references from a former employer or supervisor), OR
*A high school diploma and willingness to acquire, within a 6 month period from hire, at least 3 credit hours or 45 clock hours of state approved training in ECE, education, or child/youth development
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Supervises children at all times. This includes classroom, playground, and chapel.
*Maintains classroom in a safe, clean orderly condition; cleaning, sanitizing, and putting trash outside their door when full.
*Provides a loving, supportive, and accepting environment.
*Assures health and safety of children by following established policies, health and safety rules, regulations and procedures.
*Has a strong understanding of child development and the role of observer/facilitator in a child led, play based classroom.
*Will create a safe, warm and inviting environment that encourages child development
*Has a thorough understanding of the philosophy of play based, hands-on, experiential, child-led learning
*Has knowledge of the programs facility, safety procedures, licensure requirements and teacher certification requirements.
*Provides developmentally appropriate materials and activities that promote learning in the Seven Domains of the Nebraska Early Learning Guidelines. (Creative Arts, Social and Emotional Development, Approaches to Learning, Health and Physical Development, Language and Literacy Development, Mathematics, and Science).
*Observe children noticing their development in all Seven Domains and provide materials and activities to promote developmentally appropriate growth.
*Communicate these observations positively with parents by creating stories in Story Park with pictures, descriptions, and Nebraska Early Learning Guideline tags.
*Demonstrate faith in Jesus, the understanding that the children are gifts from God, and provide and encourage opportunities for faith development in the classroom.
*Attends staff meetings, conferences, in-service training programs and evening activities of the preschool as assigned.
*Performs any additional miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Job hours are M-F, 8:30 am - 12noon
