Coastal Plastic Surgery is hiring a full-time medical assistant! We are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic and personable medical assistant for our busy plastic surgery practice. Applicant must be responsible, compassionate, motivated, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. The Medical Assistant will work directly with the physician, clinical staff, and operating room staff. The medical assistant will consult with patients alongside the surgeon, provide education on procedures and treatment plans as well as manage all aspects of post-operative care.
Role and Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant has the following roles and responsibilities:
· Greet all patients upon arrival to the clinic
· Assist the Doctor(s) in clinic by chaperoning, scribing, helping with in-office procedures, etc.
· Responsible for relaying patient surgery information to the manager on clinic days
· Clinical duties such as suture removal and drain removal
· May be asked to send prescriptions or medical orders as needed
· May be asked to help with pre-operative appointments
· Answer medical calls as credentials will allow and route calls to the Nurse when needed
· Monitor the office phone for patient communication and respond/route appropriately
· Take before/after photos
· Take before/after photos and upload them (Mirror and/or TouchMD)
· Prepare the OR, Pre-Anesthesia and warmer for the following surgery day
· Room surgery patients in Pre-Anesthesia – take vitals and complete urine screen(s)
· Assist the Doctor(s) and OR team during surgical cases
· May be asked to act as OR circulator
· Complete OR turnover
· Mange the dirty and clean rooms and ensure all instruments are properly sterilized and put away
· May be asked to assist the Nurse in PACU and/or with discharging patients
· Monitor OR and clinic inventory and ensure all necessary supplies (surgical and clinic) are ordered
· Assist with implant inventory and order as needed per the surgery schedule
· Assist with implant claims and shipment of implants back to vendor(s)
· May be asked to confirm surgery patients
· Monitor the fax inbox and route documents accordingly
· Assist with administrative duties (phones, check-in/check-out, etc.) as time allows
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High School Diploma required, BLS, two years experience as a medical assistant
Preferred Skills
Certified Medical Assistant Preferred
Plastic surgery/aesthetic experience is a plus! Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
