Responsibilities:
- Greet and check-in patients at the front desk
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing the appointment calendar
- Collect and update patient information in the electronic medical records system
- Perform preliminary tests and measurements, such as visual acuity and intraocular pressure
- Prepare examination rooms for patient visits
- Assist the optometrist during eye exams and procedures
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care
- Provide support with frame selection and retail sales of eyewear
- Check out patients, collect copays and fees, prepare claims for billing staff
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the office
Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of retail sales and basic retail math concepts
- Familiarity with front desk operations and systems
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems
- Experience working with all age groups a plus
- Understanding of medical coding principles is beneficial
