Currently we are seeking a Full Time RN to join the Group in our Urology office located in Williamsville and Orchard Park.
No Holidays and No Weekends
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
The RN position is a very important part of Buffalo Medical Group. Our RNs are expected to maintain the highest level of customer service and professionalism and we ask that you are always courteous, professional and enthusiastic with all coworkers and patients.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Evaluate the patient’s medical record and highlight pertinent information the physician will need to know.
- Obtain urinalysis and perform dipstick analysis and place in the medical record.
- Escort the patient into the exam room and obtain a brief update on current urology history and reason for the office visit.
- New patients or patients having a yearly check-up must have a height, weight, pulse and respiration obtained. Current medications and allergies must be documented.
- If the patient is seeing the physician for a procedure such as a catheterization or urethral dilation, the nurse must obtain a consent where necessary and either prepare the patient or, in some cases, actually perform the treatment/procedure.
- Bladder ultrasound exams are performed frequently throughout day.
- Obtain blood specimens done on at least 60 % of patients.
- Patient education.
- Documentation in the medical record-including teaching done, treatments or procedures given, medication administered, laboratory specimens obtained etc.
- Triage phone calls-assess the need of the patient and respond accordingly.
- Administer injections and document for an average of 2-4 patients per day.
- Monitor and treat patients with positive urine cultures.
- Clean and restock examination rooms.
- Clean used instruments.
- When physician is not in office, nurse sees patients who require injections, minor procedures such as suture removal or catheterizations. Nurse conducts patient teaching for procedures such as penile injection therapy, self-catheterization, intravesical bladder instillation of chemotherapy. Appropriate documentation must be completed as well.
- Writing patient teaching literature, in office as well as at home on own time.
- Attend nursing in-services to remain current with trends in urology nursing. Attend required infection control in-services.
- Remain current with nursing trends via nursing journals and publications as well as membership in the urology nursing organization.
- Maintain constant dialogue with our physicians and staff regarding patients’ needs and departmental policies.
- Encourage and attend departmental meetings to monitor and improve office routine and patient care.
- Maintain proper disposal of biohazard and chemotherapy waste.
- Maintain working relationships with drug representatives, pharmacies; home care nurses, etc.
- Maintain supply of drug samples.
- Monitor insurance requirements regarding referral, waivers, etc. Provide patient education in these areas.
- Complies with BMG Corporate Compliance Policy and HIPAA regulations.
- Will participate in worksite safety training programs.
- Will comply with all Group policies and procedures including mandatory annual in-services.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Active New York State License
- Experience with an EMR
