JOB SUMMARY
Performs a range of duties involved with receiving and serving food and beverages in the school. May perform such duties as setting up milk, container juices, verify child's meals against allergy list. Responsible for cleaning work areas and equipment. and utensils. May assist in the setup. and service. and the collection of garbage/trash as appropriate in the area of operation.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up food service. kitchen in accordance with delivery schedule for breakfast. lunch. and snack.
- Serve 3 meals daily to children: Breakfast, lunch. and snack.
- Check food temperature and/or prepare areas for daily operation.
- Follow procedures in setting up cold foods to be served.
- Ensure that children with food allergies are served the prescribed alternative.
- May order and maintain emergency food items.
- Attends to day-to-day problems and needs concerning delivery of meals and food supplies, detects any discrepancy with food delivered as compared to menu, defective supplies/appliances. and/or other unusual conditions.
- Wash pots and pans. and other service items to ensure sanitary handling.
- Maintaining proper storage and control of waste, including recycling.
Keeping proper records- - inventory. meals served etc.
- Supervising maintenance of equipment and kitchen area.
- Maintaining good sanitation and safety practices.
- Participating in all appropriate meetings and trainings.
- Using available resources: commodity foods. milk program. community nutrition personnel etc.
- Performs other miscellaneous job-related as assigned.
- Participating in classroom food related learning activities.
- Participating and assisting in serving refreshments for socializations on parent nutrition
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of Department of Health training certificate or ability to obtain one once hired.
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instruction.
- Ability to read and write.
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
- Knowledge of food preparation and presentation
