The Youth Ministry Assistant will support the faith development of youth in our parish and provide administrative help for the youth ministry. The person in this role will support the ongoing youth ministries at SJD by building deep and meaningful relationships, modeling a Christ-like lifestyle and faith, and aiding in the administrative tasks needed to facilitate the youth program at SJD. We expect this person to assist in developing and implementing youth programing in the church. Our goal is to equip students for an on-going life of faith. The regular workweek for this position will be Sunday – Thursday, with some regularly scheduled nights and weekends. This is a full-time, salaried position eligible for full benefits and exempt from overtime pay.

- Submit to and pass a thorough background check and complete Safeguarding God’s Children’s certification program
- Commitment to Jesus Christ and to support the mission of The Church of St. John the Divine and the Episcopal Church
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher level of education
- Ministry, volunteer, and/or educational experience working with middle and high school students
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with the larger Family Ministry Team to develop youth programs
- Develop consistent and supportive relationships with students
- Develop ties with parents to support youth faith formation
- Perform necessary administrative tasks for youth ministry
- Assist Director of Youth Ministry in organizing ministry events
- Disciple/Mentor students in small groups
- Maintain a welcoming, fun, and supportive culture for our youth and families
