Overview:
Herzog Transit Services, Inc. is currently seeking Certified Conductors to crew the TriRail service between Miami, FL and West Palm Beach, FL. Candidates must demonstrate a good work ethic and the ability to provide safe, reliable service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

Supervise the operation and administration of the train while ensuring that equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with Federal and State regulations.

Provide customer service to all passengers as required and upon request or as needed.

Accepts responsibility for the safety and security of all passengers and crew members.
-
Accepts responsibility for compliance with rules and regulations without direct supervision.
-
Accepts responsibility for employees assigned to a position for the purpose of training or familiarization.
-
Make public address announcements as necessary.
-
Perform switching assignments as requested in cooperation with other departments.
-
Work as a crew member along with fare enforcement team members assigned to their equipment.
-
Diagnose minor malfunctions and performs minor maintenance and servicing activities when maintenance personnel are not available.

Comply with train orders, train signals, radio communications, and railroad rules and regulations to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the train.

Identify and document equipment defects on the required forms.

Perform onboard fare inspection activities as required. Perform the duties of railroad Incident Commander at any accident or incident scene the train/crew is involved in.

Initiate the performance of a job briefing with all affected persons.

Must wear the required uniform in the performance of duties.

Interface with Federal, State and Local regulatory and emergency service personnel.

Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.

Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications:
-
Must be a current certified Conductor.
-
GCOR rules qualified, preferred.
-
A valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
-
A high school diploma or GED equivalency.
-
Three years of safe, increasingly responsible railroad experience as a certified locomotive engineer/conductor in commuter rail operations, is preferable.

Any combination of education and experience that could provide the knowledge and ability to pass the required initial and annual examinations.

Crew members must have sufficient equipment knowledge and aptitude to restore equipment failures with support from maintenance of equipment personnel.

Must not have had any railroad operating rule violations or any positive drug and alcohol test results within the past five years.
-
Ability to successfully complete all training and on-going training as required by the job.

Must be able to react calmly and effectively in emergency and life-threatening situations.

Must be able to speak and write clearly in the English language.
-
Must be capable of communicating clearly and effectively with others.
-
Must be able to successfully complete CPR/AED/First Aid certification training successfully and be able to administer in any situation while on duty.

Adheres to the highest levels of professionalism by demonstrating honesty, integrity, and maturity.

Must be able to effectively change tasks at a moment's notice when the situation requires.
Pre-Employment Requirements:

Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.

Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.

Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position

Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.

Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to one-half mile.

Maintain balance for an extended period of time while train is in motion.

Must be able to be aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands while being exposed to moderately loud noises on a daily basis.

Work in a confined access/space environment with a width of 16 inches.

Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture and wind.

Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.

Able to tolerate repetitive movements, squatting/bending, and overhead reaching.

Able to lift up to shoulder height and horizontally transfer up to 35 pounds for a distance up to 10 feet.

Regularly kneel, bend, squat for extended periods of time.
-
Regularly reach overhead.
-
Regularly grasp/squeeze equipment with a force up to 20 pounds.

Regularly ascend/descend a platform with a height of up to 36 inches from the floor.

Regularly ascend and descend an 8 step ladder while carrying up to 20 pounds.

Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.

Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.

Able to work in a safety sensitive work environment.
