EMR Coordinator Primary Responsibilities
The EMR Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, maintenance and administration of the clinical records program according to the accepted record-keeping practices of the facility in compliance with state and federal regulations and training and oversight of the Electronic Medical Records.
Responsibilities:
EMR Coordinator Essential Functions

Monitoring records for completeness, accuracy, timeliness and internal consistency while the resident is in the facility

Assuring that all medical record information is protected, kept confidential and from loss or destruction

Training of all new employees on the electronic medical record data entry and procedures

Being available to employees as a resource for the electronic medical records

Auditing records of new admissions, in-house residents and discharge residents according to established time frames, using proper forms and establishing method of follow-up

Developing and implementing a system for advising all disciplines of documentation to be completed or corrected

Keeping Administrator informed of how medical records stand at all times

Assembling discharge records according to facility format such as obtaining the transfer information necessary for the continuity of care purpose form referring health care providers as needed for specific residents

Performing other duties as assigned by the Administrator
Qualifications:
EMR Coordinator Qualifications

Must possess a nursing license (LPN)

Trained by the Corporate Electronic Medical Records Super User
-
Have a thorough understanding of the principles of best medical record practices
-
The ability to follow written and verbal instructions, function independently and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action;

Personal integrity and the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and personnel;

The ability to adhere to professional code of ethics, and
-
The ability to relate information concerning a resident’s condition to the appropriate staff members
