Job Summary: We are looking for a Senior Accountant who will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in sales tax, month-end close processes, and proficiency in ERP systems. Additionally, expertise in advanced Excel and SQL is essential for success in this role.
Job Duties:
- Create customer project invoices, verify costs, determine sales tax and allocate commissions
- Process commission reports
- Code and enter accounts payable
- Post customer receipts, resolve discrepancies and contact past due accounts
- Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts
- Process expense reports
- Review income and expense accounts for proper classification.
- Manage the preparation and filing of sales tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and deadlines.
- Perform month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement analysis.
- Utilize ERP systems to record and process financial transactions, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system functionality.
- Extract and manipulate data using SQL queries to generate ad-hoc reports.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- 2-year degree or more
- Experience in invoicing customers, verifying costs and determining sales tax status (preferred)
- Minimum three years accounting experience, preferably in a distribution environment
- General understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong understanding of sales tax regulations and compliance requirements (Required)
- Proven track record of successfully completing month-end close processes in a timely and accurate manner
- Excellent organization and analytical skills
- Experience writing and executing SQL queries to extract and analyze financial data.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and Vlookup
- Able to multi-task and effectively prioritize to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Positive personality and a willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Strong work ethic
