Job Summary / Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Senior Regulatory Accountant is to support the accounting team in the company’s financial accounting and reporting responsibilities for FERC. The Senior Regulatory Accountant will be responsible for a variety of aspects of the financial accounting and reporting process. The Senior Regulatory Accountant will collaborate with various stakeholders across various departments.
Essential Duties / Functions
1. Actively engages in preparing FERC Form 3Q and Form 2 for pipeline regulatory financial reporting. Analyze data in Utegration and prepare reports. Work with various stakeholders on gathering information for publishing in Form 2.
2. Actively engages in the month end and year end close activities including preparing and analyzing financial data, statements, and reports for pipeline to ensure compliance with FERC guidelines.
3. Leads the FERC pipeline audit process with the external audit firm. Coordinates PBC and other audit requests. Works closely with external auditors on controls questions, issues, and deficiencies.
4. Supports monthly tasks, journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules. Supports accounting for pipeline volumes, OBA imbalances, etc.
5. Actively engages in preparing invoices for pipeline transportation.
6. Supports accounting for capital expenditures and fixed asset ledger from creation to retirement for the pipeline. Monitors depreciation and other reporting requirements.
7. Be the guiding resource for regulatory issues and advise the business on the latest FERC guidelines, their implications and appropriate application to Golden Pass.
8. Works with the Regulatory group to ensure Golden Pass employees' adherence with FERC rules and regulations concerning pipeline operations.
9. Fully supports company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities.
10. Special projects as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
Minimum experience required of the position.
- 5+ years of interstate pipeline financial accounting and reporting in compliance with FERC
- Experience in top ERP systems, preferably SAP S/4 HANA
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position.
- Solid foundation of educational and practical experience in financial accounting and FERC
- Results focused, detail oriented, problem solving, and, self-starter.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships and seamless interfaces across the business, including front, middle and back-office teams as well as with senior management.
- Strong skills with Microsoft Office tools.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position.
CPA and/or MBA preferred
