POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Software Engineer will implement highly complex development tasks in an autonomous fashion and mentor other engineers on the team. By applying modern software development principles, this position will deliver tested code of high quality that contributes to the team's objectives.
CORE FUNCTIONS
- Develop and test software components of high complexity and mentor other members on the team.
- Apply modern debugging skills to resolve software defects of high complexity and mentor other engineers in this skill.
- Dedicate time to self-study to improve programming skills, knowledge of the tech stack, as well as emerging industry standards and best practices.
- Regularly perform peer code reviews of all team members. Use peer code reviews to ensure code quality and as a teaching tool for others by providing respectful and thoughtful feedback.
- Lead document efforts on both new and existing software components owned by the team, with a focus on making documentation easy to understand for future developers. Review the work output for creativeness and mentor team members to improve the entire teams’ technical writing abilities.
- Lead other members of an incident response team when critical incidents take place. Resolve issues in a timely manner to minimize negative impacts on the business.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- BS Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or enrolled in degreed program or Programming Bootcamp and/or relevant work experience in lieu of degree required.
- 5-10 years of related experience required.
Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
- Expert in several backend languages (NodeJS/TypeScript, PHP, other).
- Expert skills with unit testing concepts.
- Expert understanding of cloud infrastructures such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong technical writing and strong debugging skills.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Expert CI/CD knowledge.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is an Individual Contributor: working team member with no oversight of others and no management responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is subject to Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involved sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.

Visual Acuity

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
