The Role:
We are looking for a bright, creative, detail-oriented, goal-driven, and hardworking individual to fill our Jr. Staff Accountant position. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and the capability to prioritize their workload to ensure timely and accurate delivery. Reporting to the company senior executive, the person in this position will perform accounting functions such as but not limited to: Bookkeeping, G/L entries, A/R and A/P and act as back up for other accounting personnel.
This position is full-time (40 hours a week). It may require limited weekend and evening hours for special projects.
This is a Monday - Friday onsite role and the work location is in Houston, TX.

What You’ll do:
- Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting.
- Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation.
- Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll.
- Regular maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries.
- Manage intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliations.
- In-depth knowledge of reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
- Organize schedules for monthly payments.
- Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner.
- Take part in various department-wide initiatives.
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested mostly using Excel.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficient with QuickBooks.
- Must be highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Office with a high emphasis on Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to retain complex work directions.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
- Must have the willingness and ability to take ownership and initiative to get the work done timely.
- Must be resourceful, dependable, self-starter, and a great team player.
- Must be willing and able to adapt to new tasks and responsibilities
- Recent and relevant accounting experience.
- Prior experience in private equity or investment or related industries is a plus.

Compensation:
Pay range: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis and able to commute to Houston, TX.
