The Specimen Processor is a member of the Laboratory Department team and assists the professional staff in sorting, processing, identifying, and delivering blood, body fluids, and other patient specimens to appropriate testing sites, and is under the supervision of the Laboratory Outreach Manager. The Specimen Processor is responsible for receiving and delivering patient samples to the laboratory, ordering tests in the computer system, and sending references to laboratories.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable and responsible for the sorting, processing, identifying, and delivering blood, body fluids, and other patient specimens to appropriate testing sites including reference laboratories, and is under direct supervision of the Laboratory Outreach Manager. This position will adhere to established standards, policies, and procedures of Washington Health System.
- Demonstrates competency in Washington Hospital System Core Specimen Processor Skills & Responsibilities.
- Accurately reports information to members of the Laboratory Department team and other members of Washington Health System.
- Completes all technical skills and patient care procedures as delegated according to established Washington Health System Core Specimen Processor Skills & Responsibilities.
Shift: 10PM-6AM, 2PM-10PM. Rotating holidays and weekends (every other weekend).
