Crewman – Construction / Maintenance
Reports To: Foreman
OVERVIEW:
The Crewman reports directly to the Foreman to serve our clients and team. You have one of the most important positions at our company. It is your responsibility to make our accounts beautiful and satisfy our customers through your hard work and the work of your team in a safe, professional, and productive manner. You are also responsible for modeling and following all policies and procedures including uniform dress codes and safety policies. Crew members are responsible for maintaining and/or installing landscape projects by ensuring job site tasks are completed safely, efficiently and with our quality standards in mind.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Safety - Ensure that all safety policies of the company and manufacturer are always enforced.
- Quality – Work with crews to ensure that both the Client and LLG standard of quality is maintained.
- Efficiency – Utilizing budget, work with Production or Operations Manager to efficiently perform the task within hours budgeted.
- End of Day Prep & Morning Dispatch- Ensure equipment preventive maintenance performed and supplies restocked.
- Visually inspect landscape for issues with turf, trees, plants, irrigation, i.e. ‘Foundation Out’
- Knowledgeable on safe use of hand tools, power tools and/or equipment to perform landscape duties.
- Continuous Improvement – In your role learn from your peers and seek educational industry seminars.
- Uphold Company Standards. i.e. Uniforms, Fleet, Equipment, Facility maintenance.

Daily Responsibilities Include:
Daily Dispatch: 6:30
Review truck inventory for any last-minute needs. The day before, review schedule Foreman has the next day.
paperwork, route sheets or instructions for the crews. Modify schedule based on prior days’ production results.
Arrival:
Safety starts when team members enter the yard. Ensure you have a safety vest on. Work with PMs to work with different team if necessary.
Equipment Check: Quick check truck & trailer for issues. Check inside of trailer for inventory. Talk with foreman about any equipment issues. Work with Mechanics to deal with any issues.
Know how often we change blades? What is our equipment maintenance program? Who mixes the gas? What do crews do vs mechanics? What is our production units’ inventory?
Morning Stretch: Work together with all team members to build comradery during the stretch. Compliment good performance, introduce yourself to new team members.
Dispatch: All crews head to their work sites. Buckle seat belts and have on PPE. Be out of shop within 15 minutes of clocking in.
Daily Plan:
The Foreman needs to plan their day effectively with a focus on building the capabilities of their teams.
Safety: Is truck and trailer parked safely? Are cones out? Do crew members have PPE on? (Vests, Ear plugs and safety glasses)
Quality: How does the job look from an overview? (Turf color, weeds, shrub pruning, tree problems, plant placement, plant depth, grade). Do you understand the proper quality standard?
Productivity:
Walk Job: Identify any quality issues.
- Ask questions if you do not understand what you are doing?
- Are you being efficient? Are you using the equipment properly? Safely?
- Are you using the right equipment for the job?
Labor Hours: Review current labor hour efficiency with Foreman and discuss any issues. On larger jobs work on developing a property attack plan for construction, base maintenance, mulch and for pruning. Utilize a site plan and draw out the plan of attack for the crew. Monitor hours daily and make improvements as needed.
Irrigation: If there are any signs of watering problems, (too wet, too dry) let the foreman know
If the client comes out and wants to talk, engage them and listen to their concerns. If they can be fixed while you are there, take care of them. If text the foreman to discuss with the PM and set a future date to remedy the concern. Any items that will require a Work Order should be referred to the PM for follow-up. Let the client know that you will pass the request on to the PM to follow up. The PM should Always communicate any client communication with the CRM / Designer.
Daily: Look for common problems and or concerns and make a note to bring them up in a tailgate huddle. Communicate with your Foreman to help resolve any issues that come up.
End of Day:
Crews should not get back to shop before 4:30. If crews are returning prior to that, we have a problem.
Make sure that they empty all debris from inside and outside of your truck. Gas up in the afternoon if needed. Clock oot after truck is restocked and equipment serviced.

Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
