This is a full-time (Laborers and Helpers) position with the City's Public Works Department. An individual in this position will enforce animal control regulations and ordinances for the City. Reporting relationship: Animal Services Supervisor.
- Respond to calls to service. Issue warnings and citations, impound animals and wildlife traps. Rabies quarantine and testing. Omit rescue injured animals;

Support shelter operations by sanitation of the facility vs cleaning the facility;

Conduct investigations of cruelty, neglect, abuse, noise and bite cases. Partner with appropriate prosecutorial agencies follow up on complaint investigations communicate city ordinances with the public, and various veterinary clinics in the area, have the ability to write full reports and testify in a court of law;

Possess the ability to effectively communicate with the general public, suspects and complainants. Educate the public on animal welfare, care, and safety;

Perform other duties as assigned;

Subject to 24 hour recall and EOC assigned duties.
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate are required. Must be able to obtain a Euthanasia Certification and ACO certification within six (6) months of employment. No experience required, however, previous experience with animals is preferred. Valid driver’s license is also necessary.
The Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development may consider an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
